description
Baladi is a soft unripened cheese with a mild, slightly salted flavor. It is similar to Akawie, but with a more compact texture. " Baladi " means local, so Baladi cheese would be " local cheese ". It is also called " mountain cheese ". Baladi is a cheese from Lebanon. Baladi (Jibneh Khadra in Arabic) was originally made with unpasteurized goat/sheep/cow milk. Being unpasteurized, it had to be eaten within three days. The Baladi made here is made from pasteurized milk, therefore it has a longer shelf-life.
